One More Second

Often, I come across rabbits while hiking along the trails but they quickly hop away.  Badly wanting this rabbit as a focal point for my shot, I found myself whispering as I approached very slowly,

“Just hold still for one more second. . . . please?”

Tight Rope Walker

This moth was so still on a thin blade of grass that it reminded me of a focused tight rope walker.

A Bit Out of Place

A bird’s nest sitting on a bench seems a bit out of place. Perhaps it was tossed to the ground by the wind.  Whoever placed it there, set up a nice photo op that I did not even have to touch.

Are there one or two squirrels?

Without Hindrance

In spite of temperatures in the single digits and a light snowfall, Coffee Creek has not slowed down much and is flowing without hindrance.

Too Much of a Good Thing

Is it possible to have too much of a good thing?  When it comes to enjoying the beauty of nature while hiking, my answer is a definite

“No way, Jose!”

In the peacefulness of God’s creation with a camera to seize the beauty, I have found my happy place.

Melancholy is Futile

While hiking with fresh snow on the trails, sun streaming through the trees, and occasionally spotting deer, birds, and squirrels,

For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.   – 2 Corinthians 4:6

The Vee Tree

As I hike the trails from day to day, paths become familiar as do the trees along the way. Here is one I named the “Vee” tree which is just a tad different from the rest but not any less striking.

Hidden From View

Early morning hikes are usually the most fun part of my day.  Times when I encounter a deer mostly hidden from view by a forest or field of tall grass make it even more exciting.
