Tight Rope Walker

This moth was so still on a thin blade of grass that it reminded me of a focused tight rope walker.

Ouch! That Hurt

“Look out!  There’s a bee!”

How would you react if you heard those words?  You would probably move and move quickly in order to avoid having to say the following  . . .

“Ouch!  That hurt!”

Red & Black Wasp

Stop Time

Hold your breath to stop time!

That is what I find myself doing when attempting to capture a shot of an insect.  Holding my breath to stop time and to keep the bug from moving.  As if this would actually affect it in any way.  Don’t think they’ve received the memo with instructions yet.

Beauty and the Stinger

While strolling along the grounds of the Texas Discovery Gardens, a quick movement caught my eye.  A red and black wasp was walking from leaf to leaf.  With its elegant beauty, it did not appear threatening at all.  Alas, it did have a stinger!  Hence the name of this post – Beauty and the Stinger.

Red & Black Wasp

Red & Black Wasp

I hope that explanation of how I came up with this blog title at least made you smile a little bit.  No worries, I was not stung and no one else seemed to be bothered by the wasp either.

Texas Discovery Gardens

Texas Discovery Gardens

Both of these shots were captured at the Texas Discovery Gardens in Dallas, Texas.  On the grounds of the Texas State Fair, the gardens were definitely worth the stop.  Their butterfly house was the attraction that initially drew me to the gardens but I ended up enjoying so much more than just the butterflies.  Next time you are in Dallas, drop by the Texas Discovery Gardens.  This red and black wasp seemed as friendly as all the other Texans!
