Peaceful Side of Lake Michigan
Looking across what seems like endless water and miles and miles of lakeshore, it is easy to forget that Lake Michigan is exactly that – a lake! Rough waves, with rip currents hidden underneath, can often be seen from the top of a sand dune. Other days, the peaceful side of Lake Michigan shows up.
These photographs were taken on one of those peaceful days. The stillness of fresh water with hardly a ripple along the beach can make a person want to stay for hours on end.
Whether from the top of a sand dune, the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk, the Indiana Dunes State Park or any one of the many trails along the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, head to the Lake Michigan lakeshore and dip those toes in the water. (Well, maybe better wait until spring to dip those toes in the water.)
It’s never too late to have an adventure and make a memory. On a clear day, you might even spot the Chicago skyline pointing towards the heavens from across the lake.
